Well, worked on it somemore tonight...got the driveshafts in and had to fabricate some RC limit straps to keep the drivelines in one piece...LOTS of flex without them. With the limit straps on, I can take a soda can easily.... This also limited the body roll and helped. Now that my links are all adjusted, its onto epoxying the ends in to finish them off... Lock the center diff, and she will be all set. I also installed my lower spur gear and pinion gear tonight. Eric, I'd be interested to see how you got the gears in there rather than the belt drive.... EDIT: I just tore into my RC10 and pulled the tranny...I might be able to mount it into the squirrell...lol

these look kinda cool. i have raced rc before and got out of it. Just becareful these things can get really expensive. Tell me about it. I used to have a RC10 TC3 (AWD Sedan) that I used to race... had approx 1500 in it, including tires and spare parts. My EMAXX that I am building now, is going along that same path. I am looking at a JS XS3 Pro Reciever and transmitter, for 250 bux. Considering a brushless motor setup, and cheap is another 250. Add batteries and chargers, and there ya go I think I have 300 tied into the rolling chassis alone... BTW, RCcrawler is a kicka$$ site. I have been a member on that board for quite awhile.

Looking good James. Are you going to keep the same suspension links or make your own? What shocks are those from?

Looking good James. Are you going to keep the same suspension links or make your own? What shocks are those from? Those are T-maxx links...106 MM long...the uppers are the stock TLT links which should be the right length for a triangulated upper.

ITS DONE ITS DONE ITS DONE...well, not really, I still need new shocks and a couple of good battery packs, but it does run...ran it through its paces tonight after I was done, and after realizing I needed loctite in several spots, I was able to dial her in...Still need some better shocks though... I'll let the photos speak for themselves.. Not actual beadlocks, but rather wheel weights made out of washers and actually screwed into the rim...totally removable. Yep, it still flexes just as good as I originally setup, only the wheelbase is a bit longer now, so much more stable. You'll notice that I am still using the stock TLT shocks, but this will change soon.... they are too soft and I am actually losing about 1/4 inch ground clearance.

It is looking sweet James. I like the idea of those weights, plus they look like beadlocks which looks cool.

Well, after working out all of the bugs and getting it dialed in, I took it out on my homebrew rock crawling course...no pics tonight, and no video (I'll get some tomorrow), but the rig is awesome, the course is awesome and I am looking forward to seeing what some of the other crawlers here can do on my course....keep an eye our for a TOR RC Division BBQ at my house in the coming future... ;D

Well, new update..(sorry no photos), but she is all dialed in and tested on my very own rockcourse....Tonight after Kyle left, I fabbed up some motor protection and also got my winch done... I had my rig sitting on the workbench, and I lifted Kyle's half done crawler straight up about three feet and it held it just fine.... ;D This weekend, it will be with me on all of the runs...should be fun.
