Well, this photo is the last one with the 4 Banger in the Jeep On my return trip from the Gap, I noticed a slight vibration in the driveline. (Good ol' seat of the pants diagnostics)...Well, it turns out I was right. The rear output of the NP231 moves up and down a good 1/8" of an inch, so I am suspecting its a bit worn. I was planning on doing the motor swap in January or so, so I could save up money, but I look at it like this... I cannot wheel with my t-case in its current shape, and I see no point in pulling the t-case to repair it, then reinstall it behind the 4 banger, so as of this week, the swap is on. Unfortunatley, this means that the runs I had planned on attending in the next 4-8 weeks are a no go. But I figure this is the right time to go ahead and do the swap...Not to mention that my check engine light has been bugging me for the last two weeks... I guess the check engine light means chuck the engine...lol

I think when they put the lights in your Jeep they forgot to change the wording on the panel to chuck engine. Imagine where you'll go and at what speed with an extra pair of cylinders.

Well after smoking the clutch yesterday, is it really a surprise? Let me know if you need assistance. I've done a couple engine changes, transmissions, t-cases, and an all out carbureted to fuel-injected swap, so I've got a little bit of experience. ;D Hopefully we can get you back on the road sooner than 1 to 2 months!

Yea....probably on my roof...guess I better work on my roll cage too.. While the motor is being done, I am also going to go through all of the electrical (After motor is running), and also going to maintenance the entire drivetrain...

You should have seen it today....lol... I really think it went when I tried to back up in the keyhole yesterday and wrapped my rear end pretty hard...bet it bent something out of shape... Anyway, I'd love to be back on the road in a week, but the cash funding just isnt there right now....

You smoked the clutch yesterday as well? Oh yeah, don't use the relay that seemed to be the starting problem today.

Yea, I smoked the clutch WAY worse yesterday, to where I smelled it on the way home last night from Chimney.... And as for that relay....as soon as I pull the 2.5 out, I'm smashing that SOB with a 2# sledge... ;D

Eh, no rush 'cept your own. I'd like to see you back out there, but I can only offer a few evenings and Saturdays. Just say the word. Trust me, it will take time, even if money were no object.

Update:
As of tonight, I've procured an Alternator, barterd for a complete exhaust (new) system, and even gotten a shop space to install it with a certified ASE mechanic. Stay Tuned...as soon as I get parts gathered, it will likely be a Saturday night swap, continuing into Sunday morning.... My plan is to have the motor swap done in less than 18 hours from start to finish...
I think it will be a personal best for me... I've still got lots of parts to gather and things to go through, but I see it on the near horizon getting done. To all who have offered their assistance, I thank you very much in advance. I think its awesome that we have a community here always willing to help the next guy. It's an awesome feeling to be part of such an awesome group, and I am humbled that I was able to help put it all together.
Once I have a date, everyone will know, and any assistance is welcomed.
As it sits, I only need a few parts to really get it running...
Water Pump Fan Shroud Alternator (Thanks Jim) Power Steering Pump & Resevoir Exhaust (Thanks Jessie) Motor Mounts for 4.0L I6
Thanks again for everyones help and assistance.

I'm not sure if the 4-1 will be in this go around of upgrades, but I am likely going to change my SYE from the hack and tap to the JP super short (shorty), which is shorter than an Atlas II

I6 to I6...just a replacement, it was done in 9 hours with a supercharger.... It can be done, I just have to do my homework...and at the very least, the motor will be bolted in, and I can push it home and finish the rest here....

Bob, they do, however, I'm going to be cutting the current front stinger off and rebuilding it with the tube I have reserved at your place. I'd like to change it up a bit. The winch plate will stay put, but the fenders, grill, and hood will all be removed.

I dunno James, rushing a motor swap or something like that isn't such a hot idea. Forget one thing and your swap might not work like it's supposed to. Better to take the time and make sure it's done right, IMHO.
