Slick i agree with you, I thought that i could do all the work on motor at nite but the more i get into it the more i find things that i don't like, thats why i am taking my vacation days early to make sure that it is done right. Why do things twice when it could have been done right the first time.

I've personally been around a motor swap.. I6 to I6...just a replacement, it was done in 9 hours with a supercharger.... It can be done, I just have to do my homework...and at the very least, the motor will be bolted in, and I can push it home and finish the rest here.... I dunno James, rushing a motor swap or something like that isn't such a hot idea. Forget one thing and your swap might not work like it's supposed to. Better to take the time and make sure it's done right, IMHO. Ok..perhaps I should clarify a bit...I am not planning on having it RUNNING in 18 hours...just bolted in, wires ran, and hopefully with only minor issues to deal with... Just the major mechanical stuff anyway...to the point where I can do the rest in the garage.

Well, made a little progress night before last. Got the new motor all cleaned up with a pressure washer, and cut off my front stinger and hoop setup. I'll be redoing a bit different.
Anyway, no pics, just thought I'd throw in the update. I should know today how much my motor mounts will run me, and also, I should be picking up my alternator from Jim.

This place has exactly what you need. They deal only in Mopar parts, which includes Jeep. New Mopar PartsTook a little to find, but go to the "Collision" catalog, put in your year make and model info, then go to "Engine" "Front bracket" and "To Frame"

Thought you were looking for a place to buy them, not just stating you need them. My mistake.

Well, I thought I'd post some progress... I didn't snap any pics becuase by the time we were done, one it was 1 AM and two, I couldn't find my camera in the dark...I'll get some pics this afternoon, but here is a rundown of what was accomplished and what we learned.
The fenders and grill have been removed. The Battery & York 210 has been removed from the 2.5.
We discovered that the power steering pump and and the entire ensemble will transfer over to the 4.0, so we did.
We also discovered that my water pump transfers over, which solved two problems...Now I don't need a water pump, (mine was in really good shape) and I can run a regular fan now.
Got the belt on the new motor, all tensioned and ready to go.

As of right now, I think I'm a scratch for this weekend. I am planning on using the weekend to get my 2.5 out and the 4.0 in. It all depends on whether or not I get my motor mounts tomorrow. Won't know until then.

Just thought it would be prudent to post where I am getting alot of my information from. A member of jeepforum.com has done the EXACT same swap, and he did a good job of laying it all out in this thread. www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250920It's helped a ton, and I've personally spoken with the guy. Hopefully, my motor swap goes as easily as his did.

Thanks In Advance.
P.S. I'll get some photos tonight of the current state of my jeep...looks like its been attacked and the front end just ripped off...lol

Along with my motor swap, I'll finally be rebuilding my front stinger to the new specs I've been after for a while... Basically, it will look alot like this one, with the only exception being that I will not have flat fenders...for now... So, what do you guys think?

Cause I don't need them right now...The looks going to be the same, but the design will be a bit different...Plus, I have some other things in mind besides just old fashioned flat fenders... However, if I ever decide to go that route, it will be easy to add in. And on top of that, I've yet to find a design for rear flat fenders that I like, so I'll stick with what I have for now....

James did up get the 4 banger out last night?

James did up get the 4 banger out last night? 4 banger is on the trailer, 6 is temped in place....gotta knock off the drivers side motor mount and move it forward just a little, other than that, she is on the way....and my garage floor is a slippery ATF mess...... Turns out the tranny on the 6 had ALOT more fluid in it... ;D Taking today off, but I'll hit it hard Saturday with some Kitty litter and a grinder...Once the mount is moved and the motor is happy, it's just a matter of hooking everything up.

Sounds like you're making good progress! I take it the tranny mounts up fine then? Also it would seem you've learned a certain truth about automatics... they like to dump their fluid all over as soon as they are tail down. Wasn't an issue during removal because the t-case was still mounted up.

Ok....everything mechanical is bolted up and good to go....plumbing is all in, tranny cooler is in, now if I could just find that pixel fairy dust to magically make the wiring work...
Calling all wiring experts.... ;D Could use a hand. Got it mostly figured out but with the MSD igntion, it complicates things a bit...cannot find where to hook the MSD ignition trigger wire.
