Hey Folks...in case you didn't know, there are some trails in this state that require you to have a valid state permit. Now, most of the trails in Tucson do not fall under this jurisdiction, humsoever, should you choose to head to Florence or other various places, its probably a good idea to have one. Oh, and by the way..the penalty/consequence for not having a permit when required...they can confinscate your vehicle on the spot and you'll have to go through lots of red tape and fines to ever get it back.... The permit form is available online here: State Of Arizona Off Road Recreational Permit ApplicationThe permit runs 15.00 for one year, and if you wheel anywhere outside of Tucson, I'd recommend getting one.

Good info. What are the rules about a hunting license? I heard that it can be used as a state land permit as well. Does anyone know if this is this true?

If your hunting then it's fine but if your plinking or running a trail or any thing else then you have to have the permit. Found this out last year, the game department ask your hunting RIGHT! ..because if your not I have to write you a ticket..Yes sir were hunting yotes and mountain lion. ;D I used to always carry a tag for one since you never know what will come to a distress call.

I just got my permit in the mail. Sent it off to the Phoenix office Tuesday and got it Saturday. Pretty quick turn-around time!
