Well, went out tonight and picked up my mom's new ride. She just sold her 2000 Mazda and bought a 1980 CJ-5.... Anyway, here are some photos, and of course, we had to compare it to "Sarge", my '55 M38-A1. They are awfully "cute" when they are little aren't they? Needs a little work, but overall in very good shape and it runs great. Guess her fender is 40" tall, at least my tire is anyway... She is/has already arranged for some new tires, and it will likely be getting a paint job in the near future. This ride will not see to much wheeling as of right now, until its gone through and made sure its all ok. This CJ-5 is BONE STOCK, right down to the original top and seats and original hubs. The seats even have Jeep imprinted into the vinyl on them. Overall a very good jeep. Not sure on all of the specs, but I know it has.. Hurricane Flat Head 4 Popper Manual Tranny - 4 Speed (Not sure designation) Dana 300 Dana 30 Front Axle, Stock Gears AMC 20 Rear Axle, Stock Gears Stock Suspension, but it will soon have 34" tires that will fit with an add-a-leaf (Bought from Dragon51...THANKS DJ)

That's what I told James today. I thought you needed me to notarize the title to your car. No problem. Happy that you got a new ride....

The T-176 was standard for the 6 cylinder, in '80-'81 the Borg Warner SR-4 was standard for the "Iron Duke" 4 banger and in '82-'86 the Borg Warner T-4 was standard for the 4 cylinder.

Yep...You got it right...I just read a article describing the SR-4. It's an ok light duty tranny with a 4.07:1 first gear. The Dana 300 is a 2.62:1, and we are not sure about the axles yet. I've got to check the codes on the axle... The D300 is a nice tcase though, and this being the 1980 version, its about 3.5 inches shorter than all the rest. Not to mention is easily upgradeable to 4:1 ;D

1980-86 the standard axle ratios were 3.55's with 4.10's being an option for the I-4.

Good looking cj, with a little TLC it will be a good rig. Now I would like to give a little blessing for the cj, Lord please keep Maw safe when she drives this cj and please give her the strength and ability to stick her foot up James butt if ever mentions changing the motor to a six banger. lol sorry James had to do it.
