Well, I posted a little in the new member thread about the truck, I will go into more detail here
Here are the current specs, followed by a history:
1999 Nissan Frontier
4wd, 4cyl
Stock tcase gears (for now)
rear axle is H233B w/ 4.9 gears, and LSD
front axle is Dana 44 w/4.88 gears, and open
33x1250x15 BFG AT TA/KOs on black crawler wheels
Check out my picturetrail account for TONS of pics from all of my projects.
Mongo started life as a 2wd truck. Here is a pic before the off-roaded seed was planted. I think the only things I had done mod-wise were window tinting, and a magnaflow exhaust:
Shortly after that, and becoming more involved with nissan4wheelers, I decided I needed to lift the truck. I was just gonna keep it simple... pre-runner. So, I swapped in an H233B rear axle, and converted to spring over for the rear. Cranked the torsion bars, added a body lift, and a fabtech suspension kit. Also, fabbed up a front bumper, and the sliders, and did a roll pan and shaved my tailgate:
Learning that 2wd will only get you so far, and the typical end result was being stuck, I SAS'ed the truck with TONS of help from some good friends on the nissan board... I have a whole album of those pics here.
Then due to money restraints, as well as living in an apartment, the project was put on hold for a year Finally, in January, we moved into our house, and I jumped on finishing Mongo. I installed a stock 4wd tranny and tcase that I scored for 150 bux.
After the tranny job, I decided I did not want to run dual cases, so I had to source a new front axle...that took awhile.
Well, as of 3 weeks ago, I finally got around to installing that new axle, and fabbed up a front driveshaft using a cherokee one. I lobbed off the CV joint, and just welded a 1310 flange on, and viola! 4wd.
Here are a couple pics as of this morning:
Anyway, that is it in a nutshell... Future plans are OBA, ARB lockers front and rear, and a bunch of other crap, lol
