Well, I finally got some new front springs for the blazer. I got a set of tuff country 3 inch springs with less than 1000 miles on them off of ebay for 80 bucks. Just wanted to see if anyone would be interested in helping me install them this weekend. I can't do Saturday (UofA - ASU game) but any other day would work.
Thanks Kyle

I'll be doing my exhasut tomorrow evening and we could possibly do them then over at the shop where I am doing my exhaust..it would be after 5 PM though....possibly...
The other option would be tomorrow during the day...Springs are not to bad to change out...just physical.

I'm supposed to go shooting with my dad tomorrow sometime during the day. I could do after five but I'm not sure about during the day. When I find out what time I'm going with my dad I'll let you know.

Kyle if you are going to change the leafs spring do you have new u-bolts to put back in, what about new shackle bolts, I would suggest that you spray p.b. blaster on the bolts so that you won't have that much trouble getting them off. If you need new shackles bolts measure them and p.m. me the sizes and i will get them from work, Grade 8 zinc and they won't cost a arm and a leg. U-bolts i can't help you with. but i think utility trailer will be a good place to get them.

Also i think autozone sells u-bolts, may not be what your looking for but couldnt hurt to check them out, they wouldnt cost to much at least if you need new ones. Also did you ever get these installed?

Allright, got the springs installed today. They gave me 2 more inches of lift compared to the old ones. I'm really happy with them. The only problem is the front of the truck sits about 1 1/2 inches higher than the back. I'll most likely have to do something about it. Other than that the springs worked great.

Block the rear and you should be good. ;D Allright, got the springs installed today. They gave me 2 more inches of lift compared to the old ones. I'm really happy with them. The only problem is the front of the truck sits about 1 1/2 inches higher than the back. I'll most likely have to do something about it. Other than that the springs worked great. Already have blocks in the rear. They only provide around 2 or so inches of lift so I'll have decide what to do.

I'd say flip the shackles Kyle, if they give you enough lift, you might be able to dump the blocks already in place. If you need any info/help/ideas on the how to, give slick a holler, somehow he wound up with tons of info on chevys.

I've been looking into doing the shackle flip because it will allow me to safely REMOVE the factory rear blocks. All things considered, it also should increase rear flex quite a bit. As Doc said, I've got info on Chevys, including a place that makes the shackle brackets for a "bolt on" swap.

Oh...sorry, never heard of a shackle flip in the rear? Are you talking Shackle flip or reversal? I'm not sure.

Oh...sorry, never heard of a shackle flip in the rear? Are you talking Shackle flip or reversal? I'm not sure. The shackles on the rear of a Chevy face upward.A shackle flip would put them facing toward giving you the difference that was going up now becomes the lift. Oh...I was thinking they meant a shackle reversal, which on a jeep means moving the shackle from the front of the jeep to the rear of the front spring... I didn't see a point to move the shackle on a setup like kyles, but I udnerstand now...sorry

In my oppinion, Off-Road Design is a great place to get stuff for Blazers. I'll probably get there shackle flip kit and swaybar disconnect in the near future.

You might also think of getting the steering box reinforcements too.Chevy trucks of this gen have a problem with cracks developing in the frame around that area.It just a matter of time it will happen.Big tires and hard wheeling cause them. The kit is well made. That's also on my list ;D

Just remember with a shackle flip your rear axle will move slightly forward. I would recommend putting in some "zero rates" from ORD which you could use to get the axle back to its original location and it will gain another inch in height as well. It bolts right into your spring pack. If money is a concern, you can do a homemade shackle flip: www.coloradok5.com/shackleflip.shtml
