Just some back round, we own a house at Parker Canyon lake, about 75 miles southeast of tucson. 6000 ft high,26 miles west of Sierra Vista, 30 miles southeast of Sonita. Well when we started camping you used to have to drive 26 miles on dirt road, then about 5-6 years ago, because it is a state route they finished paving the last few miles to the lake. Earlier this week i got a letter that april 14 there will be a association meeting, [we have them twice a year] and on the agenda is paving the roads in the subdivision. From what i understand whatever the cost will be to pave the roads, they will divide the cost between everybody that has property down there and if you dont pay then they will put a lein on your property. What gets me so upset is that before you buy down there you go and look at the property and know what you are getting yourself in for. This all came about because there are people that have more money than brains and there new junk suv cant handle the road. [Only time it gets bad is during monsoon, the average rainfall is between 22-26 inches a year] most houses are within 3/4 of a mile of the paved road. I have the oldest truck that goes down there and i have the proper equipment, stronger tires and i take care of it. I know already that there are at least 7 familys that dont want the paved roads. Most of the people that dont want the paved roads are there for the same reason, getting out of the hussle and bussle of city life and getting back to nature. If you look at the Parker Canyon run you will see what i am talking about.

Is there anything that you and the 7 other families can do to prevent them from paving the area or at least not help pay for it if you dont even want it???

People suck. I'm sorry to hear they're being a bunch of butts about this one Ernie, and I guess the 7 families that don't want the area paved aren't quite enough to overthrow the vote. Maybe it's time to talk to an attorney?

Were hoping that many more people dont want paved roads either. see most of the lots are owned by people that just have them, they will n ot ever build on them they have had them for years. There are a select few that have money and to much time on there hands that are trying to get this done. If they would do the right thing as far as their trucks go and put good equipement on them then there would not be a problem. These people dont realize when there is snow on the ground and the steepness of the road they will not stop and do some damage to something, well i guess that i will find out next saturday what these people want. My wife said already we will not pay for any paved road. See twice a year the county comes free of charge to grade the road and i dont see any problem.

Update, went to the meeting yesterday and you talk about a joke. The guy holding the meeting was told by a county agency that it would cost about $21,000 to pave the road. now certain people on the forum know what the roads are like and it will take about 7-10 days just to the road ready to pave, besides the big dozers and whatnots that have to come in to move dirt, that alone will be about 60,000. I found out after the meeting that the person holding the meeting took his corvette to his house and may have done some damage. Lets see, corvette 3 inches off of ground, rock sticking up 4-5 inches=damage. They know where i stand, no paved roads. and a few others that have voiced there displeasure about paved roads. they are going to check on it somemore and get more info.

So, maybe just 21,000 to throw some crush and run.......wonder if he knows that'll do more damage than the dirt with occasional rocks in it. I hope it doesn't happen Ernie, it's nice out there the way it is.

I hope he ruined his car. Ask them how are they going to like it when the road gets paved and the result WILL be more traffic. Then they will be complaining about the increased burglaries and vandalism of thier Cabins. It will happen. A rough road is an effective deterrent to a lot of people.

ssii, you know that was brought up and the answer was maybe we can put gates at each end of the road with like a garage clicker to open the gates, [ to me that is more money going out]

Just a shame.
