Well, I got bored this evening, and did some spark throwing in the garage. I was given these shackle mounts, 1/4" thick. Since I couldn't mount them thru the bumper like I wanted to, I got creative with a beer box, and fabbed up some gussets for side pulling, using some 2" strip, 3/16" thick... plus this will provide a little more surface area for the welds. I will see how they do. I had to configure my welder back to flux core for the thicker material, so there is some weld spatter. The welds are deep tho... both the gusset and shackle mount were glowing bright red I used my new camera, and took some pics, but scaled em down... how do they look, and do you think the recovery points will be sturdy enough?

Those look good, hopefully they wont hit any rocks when trying to climb a steep obstacle. Maybe you can test them this weekend.

Good Job! Time will tell how they will hold up.

Those look pretty beefy, and should hold up when/if needed.

Looking good. Are you going to hang shackels on there full time or only when you need it.

Only when I need em. Things tend to grow legs and walk away down here :/
