I would start a poll, but there are two many to list. I am still thinking about lifting the truck, but I do not know what shock I should use. I want good performance off-road while still having good street manners. After some research, I was thinking about the Bilsteins (they offer the Exlplorer 5th shock), but most people on the Explorer web site seem to like the Pro Comps. What are your guys running and what do you think of them?

I love this...read 22 times and only one post. Are people not changing their shocks for off roading? How are their current shocks performing?
That is another reason to get the Bilsteins. I just have to figure out what shocks I need for a 2" lift. Bilsteins site only lists shocks for a factory rig.

I haven't changed my shocks for off-roading. I'll have to look and see what they are.

Sorry, aside from motorcycle shocks, the only aftermarket automotive shocks I like are KYB, but I've never tried their off-road shocks. Put a set of GR2s under my Subaru though and she was a blast to drive on a twisty road afterward. ;D

I'm still running the factory Jeep shocks until mid Sept. when I lift the Jeep and are going to run the Rancho RS5000's.

I didn't see this post until now.
I am running the Rancho SR9000s at all 4 corners, and like em alot. They are 9-position adjustable, so it is very likely that you will find a setting for on and off road.

My lift came with Pro-Comps no complaints with them they've been on for 3 years.

The Explorer site that I used to visit regularly (before I found this one) love the Pro Comp shocks for off road use. They have more reviews on them than anything else. I have been tossing the thought around about using them.

Thanks for the posts. I looked at the Rancho line and the 5000's seem like a decent shock. I would not want to go with the 9000's only because I am the type of person who wants to "set it and then forget it".
I still have more research to do before I make my decision.
