Trail Name: Charloeau Gap (Catalina to Oracle) Trail Location: Catalina Mountains Date: September 2, 2006 Meeting Location: McDonalds @ Oracle & Mcgee Meeting Time: 07:30 AM Dearture Time: 08:00 AM Communication: CB - 4 Cell - 850-9359 Trail Rating: 4.0 - 4.5 Necessary Items: 4WD Required - Food, Water, Basic Tools. A Little More Info: Yep, its that time...Time to run the gap again. Fun trail, pretty easy actually after you get past the cattle gaurd on top of Articulation Hill. A fun run down through the gap. I plan on running the FULL gap, so expect a full day of wheeling. This isn't including playing around in the washes and exploring some of the other trails in the area. We will see how much interest this generates, but I may have to limit the number of rigs in the group, or create a second group...we will wait and see. lets go Zjeep!
EDIT: From recent reports regarding trail conditions, the trail may be quite different than anyone has seen in a very long time... could be fun! Attendees: Archangel zjeep dragon51 AzDesertRhino

Would it be cool if I invited some other friends to come along? They are good buddies of mine from the nissan4wheelers.com forum. I think I would only select a few to come along... Like 4 or 5 rigs.
These guys are all heavily modified rigs... all the nissans are SAS'ed, there is one Cherokee with a 6" lift and 33s, and a wicked 'yota landcruiser.
Which way do you guys run it? From the backside of the mountain (closer to the Mt. Lemon backroad), or the otherside... in the new developed neighborhood?

More the merrier....however, if it gets to be too large, we may split into two groups. From what I understand, the GAP has changed CONSIDERABLY in the last few weeks. Please just give me an accurate head count so I can prepare properly.

Right on James, I will keep you posted. I have asked 2 frontiers, both SAS'ed dual locked, one with 33s, the other, 38s. A SAS'ed Xterra (who already said he has plans), a wicked landcruiser - dual locked, 35s. And a Cherokee, 6" lift, 33s. Last, but not least, a SAS'ed pathfinder 4 linked with wristed bronco radius arm, 33s, dual locked. These guys are VERY experienced wheelers (with the exception of the cherokee - relatively new), and have all driven Charoleau before. I think it would make for a cool run, provided nobody else bails out on my end. I will keep you posted as soon as I know what is going on.

Has anyone run this trail since all the rain? What would you rate it at now?
Got an accurate head count yet?

Not so sure on the accurate head count, but from my understanding from other boards...the GAP has gone back to a 4.0 trail....should be very interesting... I'm very confident that you and your rig would be just fine Jim...hope you can make it.

I will not be making it on this run... my front shafts are still broken, and I have not received my replacements in the mail yet. So, I am going up to Phx to install a suspension lift on my dad's truck, plus a cold air intake and exhaust kits. He has an '05 Nismo Frontier with LSD front and rear, with a rear e-locker. I am trying to talk him into "tricking" his elocker, so it will run at any speed in either 2 or 4 wheel drive. He doesn't want to do anything that can void his warantee. Hope you guys have fun. Look forward to seeing the pics

Just ran it last Sunday - hard 3 , easy 4. (play areas not included), one of the XJ's in our group was only running 32's, but he has front & rear lockers.
Lots of water about hub deep at worst ....... your group should have no problem even at the STEP ;D

Just follow orcal it's on the left hand side of the road I do not remember the cross street may be James remembers but it's hard to miss heck if I can find it! Actually, its on the right hand side of the road.... Just go north on oracle. You'll pass Orange Grove, and Ina I beleive, and you'll come up to McGee...Mcdonalds is on the NorthEast Corner. I'll be listening on the CB for anyone.
