I'm a bit biased, but I wouldn't go to Desert Rat if I didn't have to. Went in to shoot the sh$t and get info for the area and basically got told I needed to go hang out with the buggys on the dunes if I wanted to run 2wd, and that nobody made anything for Isuzus. I know that has nothing to do with hi lift jacks, but shops that treat customers like that don't get my $. Just my 2 cents.

Rob, I have the same experience with Desert Scat.....errrr Rat. I pulled up right in front of the front door and right after I made a purchase the clown behind the counter was basically laughing at my Trooper. He asked if I really took it off road, or just made it look that way with the tires, and made comments about it not being able to handle anything more difficult than a graded dirt road. If I had not been searching for this item for a while, and if it was not the last one they or anywhere else had in stock I would have returned it. I did tell him that the Trooper has seen more challenging trails then any of the over sized monster F-350's would ever be able to handle, and that I have used the Trooper to pull a couple of Jeeps out of trouble. The idiots at the corporate office in Tucson should really hire people that know about off roading, and not mock customers cars until they know something about it. I avoid Desert Rat like the plague now, I will urge everyone I talk to to stay away from them. <<Off my soapbox now and back on topic>>
I got my Hi-Lift at the Sportsman's Expo in Phoenix from 4Wheel Parts. They had them on sale for $45 and I did not have to pay tax. I do need to go and pay them a visit as I also want to get a Lift Mate.

Shoot I was just up in Phoenix last week with too much time on my hands. Ah well, I'm sure I'll get back up there again sometime.

Isn't Rick the owner of Desert Rat?

I might have to give rick a call and let him know why he lost my business, and will never be getting it back. And, my truck is still in the early stages, and there is much $$$ to be spent on it, along with other odd ball accessories that I may end up needing, and or wanting.

Desert Rat is part of Jack Furriers western tires. Rick Furrier runs all the Jack Furrier western tire stores and is in charge of Desert Rat. Me bad i thought that it was common knowledge that Desert Rat was owned by Jack furriers, so for my punishment i will go to work for the next two days and like it. haha

oooh. That just puts a big negative on Furriers. Hmm, and as I recall they're the only local place to get Cooper tires.

I like to give the manager preferably the owner a heads up if I get poor service. I know that if it were my shop and I had hired a bone head I would like to know. I have been to Desert rat and 4wheel parts and I find that both are clueless about Isuzu. Just try and get a set of Old Man Emu shocks both shops carry them but you get a blank stare from the counter guys. I had the guy from 4 wheel parts tell me that they didn’t carry any thing for Isuzu. I spoke with his manager and he learned a lot about the import parts section of there catalogs. This was at the company HEADQUARTERS in Compton CA.

Both those places are just offroad supermarkets. For the best service, I suggest venders from your favorite websites, like here, and Pirate. If I remember right, Calmini is a good Isuzu source, and of course the Planet suzu site must have some stuff in the way of accessories available through some venders. I can tell you a few stories of bad customer servicefrom 4wheelparts, as it relates to my old Nissan. Once I went there and ordered a ARB bumper, they strung me along for several months, and when it finnally arrived, I got a call from them saying it wasn't going to fit because it was for the Pathfinder. I was peeved, and asked why they had taken my money in advance and had me wait for so long, just to tell me it wasn't going to work. The dude was all " well nobody actually 4 wheels those Nissan Hardbodies, so they thought it was a mistake", I cried.

You need a Jeep or a full size new truck to get them to even talk to you. They are installers and sales people, not mechanics or off-roaders. Their personal 4x4s are nothing but mall-crawlers. I stay away from those places.

Damn guys I feel bad everytime a go in there i get hooked up sorry . Those Guys always triet me right. You can't let some dumb ass behind the counter scare you away. Gettin him fired, that'll make you feel better. By the way I thaught Mike Furriers was in charge of the Desert Rats. Plus hey give me a break I'm trying to get a job there. I don't want to be that dumb ass behind the counter, although I'll be wrenching in the back. So I may bypass the dumb ass class. lol ;D
