Hey Folks, Spotted these on Best buy...Same ones I have and they work awesome... I have foud of these, and I also have the one in my jeep (base unit). If you've got the cash, I highly recommend getting one of these. They are selling for 39.99. FRS/GMRS 22 Channel Radio (Nordic Blue)

No, they are FRS/GMRS..CB (Citizens Band) is another freq. However, these are an inexpensive solution for someone who does not have a CB. I have FRS/GMRS an CB in my rig. Also, before long I'll hopefully have 2M VHF.

I have two sets. You can find a CB on ebay for really cheap. The cheapest I just saw was $24.89 If you want to to get a CB ;D And if you go to the Tripple T Truck stop you can get a top loaded antena and a cable, it should cost you another 20-30 bucks. Just my .02

I like the Talkabouts. Me and my son were looking at getting some, but then my wife joined in and we ended up with Nextel (phone, direct connect and off network direct connect). As far as CB's, I agree with everyone about ebay. Just be sure you know what you are getting. Know what the CB is or make sure it is new. I got a Cobra 148GL-F which was not what they made it out to be, but I also ordered a Cobra 148GL that was almost perfect. Now I just have to figure out how I want to mount one of my CB'c in my rig and which one.

I just picked up a set of these lastnight and they're currently charging. One question though: I noticed the instructions say that there is a FCC licensing requirement for operation GMRS radios. Anyone know anything about that? As for archangel's radio, I used it on the Gunsight Pass run, and it does work very well. If I hadn't already ordered one off ebay before he offered it for sale....

I had a set of Motorola Talk about FRS radios I got for my birthday. One of them crapped out after two uses. With the group I run with most of the time CB or 2M is the way to go. I got my CB at Wal-Mart for about $60 and my antenna from Radio Shack for $30+. Never had a problem with this set up yet. I also bring a hand held Cobra CB with on any of my trips incase anyone may need one. However, since the Motorola FRS radios were bought at COSTCO, I took them back for a refund. I will be replacing them.
