Just want to see what everyone thinks about this.
It looks like this group is going to be successful so I was thinking of setting up a donation system. This would help pay for bumper stickers, window decals, t-shirts, an add-free forum, etc. Donations would be accepted through PayPal or cash. I know some of you have met me and some of you have not but I can assure you that the money would only be used for the forum. I would also be willing to allow a couple of other responsible members access to the PayPal account just so I am not the only one handling the money. If you think this is a good idea (or a bad idea) please let me know.

Just my thoughts, but what about collecting money for t-shirts, stickers, and what not up-front for the initial purchase, plus buy some extra to sell as new members join, rather than run just on donations? I'd be willing to pay over cost knowing that the extra is going to stuff like making the forum ad-free, etc. Donations are good too, and if it would help with maintaining the website and what not, a small membership fee is acceptable, I'd think.

Kyle,
I was thinking along the same lines, but I'd love to sit down and talk to you about creating an actual club. I've been part of building one and started my own in AK. We collected a small annual dues, we had monthly meetings, voting and so on. We adopted a local trail and took care of it. We also joined Tread Lightly (which I am a master tread trainer and I know Del Albright personally) and UFWDA. I think this would be a fantastic idea, and rather than a donation system, we would have the money from dues to cover the costs of stickers, t-shirts and other items. Also, it sets up a good structure... We had a President, a Vice President, a Treasurer (sp?),a secratary and two seargent at arms. Just some thoughts.
I really like how this forum is turning out and I think every person on here are GREAT people. I'd love to see us get really organized and so some good for our local trails. In Alaska, and everywhere for that matter, you have to be concerned about trails getting shut down every day. If we don't take care of our trails, they will get closed...simple as that.
ALso, Kyle...while I am thinking about it, we should ad a subforum for Land Use Issues. We could post the forest service's guys information there, and also, if there are any trails that are in the "spotlight" so to speak, it would be a good place to post and discuss what can be done about the issue. I am a member of UFWDA, Blue Ribbon Coalition and as mentioned earlier, Tread Lightly. I think we could become an actual "club" and take part in these organizations.

I'm free to give my two cents if you get together.Donations are good however be careful of when we pay we as people tend to want something in return. The site is young and the ideas are there Talked earlier with James and the idea of club came up so people are thinking.Overall I would give it abit more time and talk it up as the runs take place and in a few months do a change.

Hey Guys I had a concern and a guestion. I love the forum and my wife can barely pull me away from this. But my number one concern is that I think that we as a forum is to young to become a club. And if we do become a club I think we should get everyones input. Now I can't make that meeting that you two are putting together and I know others may not be able to make it. So my question is if we can have the meeting online on this forum. Like that everyone can get there two cents in.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for this turning into a club it's what I've been looking for. A cool group of guys that actually go wheeling At the same time I don't want us to fizz out. Or get clickish. From my experance, I've seen a lot off clubs do that.
I think we have something good going here let's not mess it up. Let's take our time and do it right.

I am all for setting up a club. I would love to be a part of the planning stages, but unfortunately, anything in the evening during the week will not work for me. I work Mon-Fri, 2:30pm till 11pm. Weekends are usually the best time for me.
So, my opinion is to have it either on a Saturday or Sunday. Hell, we can even do it down here. I have a big BBQ, and we can make it more of a social gathering too, haha. Only downside to that, is I live in Sahuarita.
Donations would be okay, but I think dues might be better...

Just my .02 I can appreciate your sentiments regarding becoming a club. I've set up a few of them now, and if anything, it only made a tighter knit group. Let's do this.... Whoever can make it out to myplace on Wednesday, then by all means, come on out.. Then, we can ALL get together (or at least a majority) at the BBQ on the 26th and really talk about it. I only mentioned a club, because its more of an organization, and while donations are one thing, things could go wrong..with a club, there are several elected people to deal with the responsibilites of incoming money, trail runs, stickers, t-shirts and anything else..basically, everything we are talking about is leading us right towards becoming a club... We are NOT going to set anything in stone on Wednesday night...I just wanted to talk to Kyle about it and go from there. I'm more than willing to get everyone's input on the matter before any decisions are made. In terms of having the meeting online... Ok, we can all log into the chat room at a certain date and time and we can discuss things in there... but I'd rather do it face to face at the BBQ.

Kyle, do you want to set up a time and make an announcment for an online meeting in the chat room this week..sometime in the evening would probably be best..
Again folks..nothing is going to be set in stone any time soon..I'm just throwing the idea out there. I defintley want everyone's thoughts on the matter..thats what a off road club is all about...getting ideas from EVERYONE and using it towards the greater good.. ;D

Kyle, do you want to set up a time and make an announcement for an online meeting in the chat room this week..sometime in the evening would probably be best.. How about Saturday evening at 7pm? I will be in San Diego but I'll take my laptop. This way anyone who cannot make the Mt. Lemmon run will be able to put there .02 in. I'll make the announcement and if not a lot of people can log on at that time, we can always set a second date. I will also save the chats from that night and post them so anyone who missed it can see what we discussed. Also, I agree with archangel, nothing will be set in stone on Wednesday. This meeting will be more of an informative meeting on how we should go about turning this into a club. See some of you Wednesday and the rest on Saturday.

I can make it Wednesday. Let me know what time, and PM your address. I've been a member of quite a few clubs, both successful and not, and I'd like this group to continue to grow, as I'm sure everyone else does.

Donations would be okay, but I think dues might be better... Im sure everything will be discussed at the meeting wednesday but i agree that dues may be a better alternative than donations. Not saying there is any bad people in the group, from what ive seen and the few people ive met your all great but i could see possibly only certain people giving donations all the time and some people never helping pitch in. Which wouldnt be fair to the people always donating to support the club. Just my 02 cents but how about everyone who wants to pay their dues and be part of the club does and in return get a t-shirt and stickers or something and people who choose not to can still go wheelin and still use the forum. Just an idea... im sure everything will be discussed on wednesday, see you all there.
