Hey, just read this little bit in the paper today, and thought it might be good if someone sat in on this. Unfortunately I cannot, as I get out of work too late...
"A workshop on revising the Coronado National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan will be help from 6 to 8:30PM Tuesday at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites, 5151 E. Grant Road.
The original plan developed in 1986 has not had a complete review. The purpose of the workshopis for the public to participate in the revision of the plan. The focus areas include the Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains.
Another workshop discussing Coronado National Forest ranges will be held from 6 to 8:30PM Wednesday. Details are available at 388-8458."

I'll have time to go. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a few more TOR members go also.

I was surprised at the short notice, especially since it was on days I couldn't make it personally. Glad to see Kyle and DJ can attend!

Just got back from the meeting. All I can say is I'm really glad I went. The basic format of the meeting was an introduction (which I recorded and I will post the recording for all to hear) and then a workshop where we broke up into groups and decided what we want to see changed in the Coronado National Forest. The big thing that my group and most of the other groups came up with was access. Basically stopping the closures of areas due to irresponsible wheeling, hiking, camping, etc. We all basically decided that this can be done by educating folks on the proper way to use the trails. I was the spokesperson for my group so I got to present to the 75 or so people who were there what my group came up with. I was also able to tell everyone about TOR and what are goals are as far as responsible wheeling. There were some members from other clubs there as well. The Rough Riders were there along with a few motocross clubs.
There is another meeting tomorrow night at the same time and place. I really think that we need to be at that meeting also. I may be able to go depending on my school schedule but if a few more people can make it that would be great. I really think that participating in these meetings will get TOR out there.
Also, starting this fall, there are going to be meetings covering the trail systems. They will be discussing what trails should be closed, what should be opened, what should be added, etc. The lady I spoke to said that the Forest Service really wants off road clubs input so we really need to attend these meetings as well. I will post more info about dates and times when it is available.
Again, I feel that we really should attend the meeting tomorrow night. If a 3 or 4 people could go that would be great.
Thanks Kyle

Thanks Kyle Kyle, Thanks for the report and the information. It sounds like it was a good thing a TOR represenative was there....I'd liked to have been there, but I didn't get home until 6:30ish. I'll try to make it tomorrow, not sure if I will be able to though... work is hell right now with the SAHBA home show coming up...

Kyle, I'm really glad you could make it! Did they say when/how the dates and times for the next meetings will be published. Seeing it in the paper the day before just doesn't cut it. I definitely would like to attend.
