OK, I am planning a run up to Tip Top Mine in the Bradshaw Mountains in central AZ. Date: Saturday September 9th Time: 9:00am (Depart 9:30am Sharp) Location: 4Sons Chevron, NE side of Carefree Hwy and I-17 ( Map) Communication: CB Channel 8 Trail Rating: Mostly 2.5, but a couple of spots would be rated a 3+ Necessary items: Bring anything you think you will need, plus plenty of water, as it will be hot there this time of year. And bring a lunch, as we will have lunch at the town. A little more info: This run will pretty much be an all day event. It is a pretty mild trail that takes through the foothills of the Bradshaw Mountains to the Ghost Town of Tip Top. We will also make a quick stop in the town of Gilette. We will have lunch at Tip Top, and time and weather permitting we will make a hike up to the mine. There is plenty of camping in the area for those that would like to camp. I might even camp. Post up here for those that want to attend. Currently I am only posting this run on this board, but if I do not get enough responders I will post up elsewhere. I do want to limit this run to 8 vehicles max. Attendees: datrupr (Aaron) - 98 Trooper Kyle (Kyle) - 77 Blazer Slick1100 (Rob) - 95 RodeoPort

May be able to. It will depend on the date. As long as it dosn't conflict with school I may be able to make it.

Well, it will be on a Saturday, and I am thinking either August 26th or September 9th to avoid the holiday weekend traffic. That area will be pretty packed over the weekend. If we get some good rains in the valley or even up north the river will impassable with 2WD, unless we hook him up and pull him across. But, that is all relative. When I was out in the area last Nov. an old lady in late 70's Caddillac Coupe DeVille crossed the river with no problems, so picking a line is a big factor as well. Anyway, how do those dates sound?

September 9th would work for me. I have a few things that need to be done to my truck but they should be done before then.

Cool, let me see if we can't get some more interest in this run, and I will then post up specifics. Sept. 9th sounds good here too. And Slick, don't worry, if you can make it come on out, we will get you across anything that you may need help with. Most should be fine with your truck though. Not easy, but doable. Anyone else interested?

eh, crossed a stream in my old 4x4 Ram 50 sport and it was alot less tricky then I thought. Took it in 4 low "to be safe" and she felt sure footed all the way across, and the water was washing over the front of the hood! I won't overestimate the Passport (would still like a 4wd at some point in time), and won't try anything if I don't think I have a good chance of making it, but not afraid to push it either.

Camping sounds good to me. It will be a pretty long drive home for me so I will most likely camp. My going will depend on whether my truck is done or not. It should be done but I will post up either way.

***BUMP*** Anyone else interested in going?
I am going to post this trip up on expeditionportal also. It will be fun, and for those history buffs it is a really cool place to explore.

I'm gonna have to back out of this one. I have a plane to catch that weekend. I'm going back east for my grandpas b-day. Maybe we can organize another run up there this winter. I'd really like to check out the ghost towns and the mine.

OK, due to scheduling conflicts and weather I am going to postpone this trip until later in the month or in early October. I will post the new dates soon, and if anyone is still interested in going please feel free to post up.
