President’s Report
We are officially an incorporated club. Sheriff’s office will contact us when it is ok to remove the burnt vehicle at Reddington. The Country Insurance needs to clear the title before we do anything.
Vice President’s Report
Copper Sticker Fund – Discussions concerning where the money is going to go, who is accountable, how the trails will be designated, and the cost ($20-30).
Secretary/Treasurer’s Report
Checking account opened at Bank of America last week. Current balance $167.00. As soon as more members pay, we can have the incorporation papers printed in the newspaper. Will also set up on-line banking so a PayPal account can be set up for the club.
Membership Report
We currently have 15 members.
OLD BUSINESS
Club Projects
Raffle – The raffle for the BBQ will take place at the March meeting. As soon as the PayPal account is set up, we can sell tickets. Kyle is taking care of the PayPal account.
Camden Stowe – Camden got to go home on his birthday. The present the Club bought for him and the certificate for Honorary Junior Member were given to his dad.
Website – Kyle has completely redone the entire site. He asked for any ideas for music.
NEW BUSINESS
Forest Service
Bob Magon met with the Board and discussed the possibility of our Club volunteering to set up signage and an educational booth at the March 10th cleanup of Reddington. They can get a $10,000 grant for improving trails and just need manpower to help them do it. Judy will set up a tent and table at the worksite to promote the Club and Tread Lightly. Kyle will put together a Club flyer to pass out and a poster describing the BBQ raffle. James will make club signs to set up on the side of the road.
Off-Roading 101
Talked about setting up some classes, possibly on the new trail where the burnt cherokee is for practice on winching, spotting, etc.
Search & Rescue Classes
James spoke with Pima County Sheriff’s Dept and was told that if we can come up with 10 interested individuals that they would offer free Search & Rescue Classes and certify us. Let James know if you’re interested.
Adopt-A-Road/Highway
Christine will get all the information concerning adopting a 1 mile stretch of road/highway to discuss at next month’s meeting. All it takes a cleanup twice a year.
PAST RUNS
Gardner Canyon
It was a great weekend. We had 7 vehicles on Friday night with one more joining us on Saturday. The night run was exciting with Kyle making a 2.0 trail more of a 3.5. Played in the mud hole on Saturday and gave Slick and Amy something to do. Hiked down to Kentucky Camp – they did a nice restoration job on it.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Florence Open
Thursday, March 15 – Sunday March 17. A group of us will be leaving immediately after the meeting. No specific trails have been planned. We will just play it by ear on a day-by-day basis.
RAFFLE
Matt won two out of the three raffle prizes (camping mat & zip ties) and Scott won a little bag of goodies (you’ll have to ask him what all was in it).
Meeting adjourned at 7:19pm.
