MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Thursday, January 18, 2007
MINUTES
Meeting called to order at 6:40pm by James Hill, President.
Guests
No guests were in attendance.
Officers Positions
Bob Stephens resigned from the position of Sgt-at-Arms for personal reasons. The Board decided to appoint DJ Kennard, Interim Sgt-at-Arms, since he had the next most votes in the last election. Since the officers will be voted in officially at the next meeting, it was announced that any additional nominations for that position would be taken at that time.
Training Classes
There was discussion concerning holding “how-to” classes (winching, trail repairs, etc). If anyone has any ideas, please let the Board know.
OLD BUSINESS
Club Incorporation – All the formal paperwork has been submitted to the Arizona Corporate Commission. We are just waiting to hear back from them. At that point an ad needs to be placed in the newspaper and TOR will be a legal corporation.
SOPs – The SOPs have been completed. James will post them on the Forum in approximately 2 days. Any suggestions for changes should be emailed to Christine, James or Kyle. We would like to vote on them at the February meeting. They basically include the items removed from the original by-laws.
Logo – We are just waiting on a high-res copy of the club logo from Lex. At which time we can set up a Café Press account for t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc.
NEW BUSINESS
Club Projects
Raffle - The club’s first raffle will be for a BBQ built by Bob Stephens. Tickets will be $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. As soon as we can set up a bank account, a PayPal account will also be set up. This will allow all forum members to purchase tickets. The raffle drawing will be held at the March meeting and the winner need not be present to win.
Camden Stowe – James brought up Camden’s current medical status. He is still in the hospital. He suggested possibly doing something as a Club for his upcoming birthday on Feb 6th. If anyone has any suggestions let a Board member know. As a minimum, James will have a birthday card available if anyone would like to sign it. The possibility of taking him on a future run (his health permitting) was also discussed.
Forum Issues – James reiterated that it is difficult to say something on the forum and have it come across exactly as originally intended. Chose your words carefully and be respective of others’ opinions.
Website – Kyle is completely redoing the entire site.
Membership Dues – Dues for three (3) individual and four (4) family memberships were collected. All dues are due by the February meeting.
PAST RUNS
Chimney Rock – James will follow up with Austin to see if the car we pulled out of the road has been removed.
Rice Peak – “Full Size Madness” run.
Martinez/Coke Ovens – Fun time had by all. Helped someone on the trail to Martinez on Saturday. Went to Coke Ovens on Sunday. Didn’t see any signs of the trail being closed or any notices posted.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Copper Creek – Meeting at 9am on Saturday, Jan 20th at the first Circle K in Oracle. Robert & Heather will meet up with the group at the junction to San Manuel. We will be running on Channel 16.
Canyon de Chelly – Kyle planning a trip. He will need to know who’s interested in going by the middle to end of February in order to calculate costs. In order to drive through the canyon Indian guides need to be hired.
RAFFLE
Kyle won all three raffle prizes: Outdoor Channel calendar (which he kept), Jeep pen (which James procured), and a Jeep wrench (which he gave to Amy). $27.00 were collected.
Meeting adjourned at 20:03pm.
