Dragon51 was gracious enough to give me an old Alpine head unit stereo this week, which I spend the day today building speaker boxes, mounting everything and getting it wired. It was (notice the word was) all working great.
Tonight, in the process of working on my batteries in the Jeep, I managed to arc the main power lead which went to the fuse block where the stereo was powered. Now, this is where I am puzzled. The fuse did not blow. I have power at the fuse block, but the head unit refuses to turn on. I applied direct 12v from the battery to both the switched wire as well as the battery + supply...nothing. Something was fishy with the unit anyway. It would not play a CD, and the display had gone out, but other than that, my M38 had tunes for a short time.
So, needless to say, I am in need of a single din AM/FM/CD (if possible) head unit. I wanted to check on here and see if anyone had anything before I went to checker and bought there 39 dollar special.
Inexpensive, cheap, or free is even better....thanks!

Sorry to hear that.
Sounds like the fuse value was too big they normally take a 2 amp fuse some times more like my Eclipse, uses a 10amp fuse but it is a high end deck and puts out a true 25watts per channel. I had that thing in my wife's Sidekick for couple of years. Sounds like a trip to the pawn shop or swap meet!
