Hello, my name is Ryan Rodriguez, and i just ran across this forum today while searching the uroc event in Phoenix. So i thought i would join try to wheel more than i do. I presently wheel my 99 taco, but i have my 54 m38a1 jeep in the shop soon. I use to wheel my jeep all the time but i knew that it was no longer safe to wheel with all the parts slowly breaking so i decided to do a complete rebuild. I was going to do it with my dad but he was killed in a motorcycle accident two years ago so i am not experienced enough to do the build myself. I decided to have the the guys at crossed-up offroad do it for me. The jeep will be running a 5.3 vortec engine mated to a military sm420 with an atlas 2 5.0. Then the front axle is a dana 44 with 5.38 gears and detriot locker and the rear axle is a gm 14 bolt with 5.38s and a lincoln locker and disk break conversion. The front suspsenion will be a 3 link coil-over, and the rear will be rubicon leaf-over springs. so hopefully i will have the jeep completed within the year. Right now i been wheeling my 99 taco with a 3" all-pro lift with a new control arm up front. I do not care to wheel with the ifs but it gets me by, till i can get my jeep going.

Welcome to TOR, sounds like a sweet jeep, look forward to seeing it on the trail. Don't worry about the IFS, we have some Tacos still running it and doing good.

thanks everyone, i don't mind the toyota but i am so use to the jeep and have a little trouble getting use to the ifs and long wheel base. Hopefully i will have the money to get the jeep running by the summer, as of now i have the engine (need to install, and ship off the computer to take off emissions), the tranny is ready for install, and on jan 18, my axles will be fitted with 37 baja claw completion and trail ready bead locks, and lastly the suspension will be done. so i guess i am about 70% done.
