On that trail, I don't know if you noticed, but there will be a future issue.
Coming down the trail, right at the spot where most of the rigs have to do a 3 or 5 point turn to get between the trees, right before that about 50 ft is a downed fence to your right.
You know and I know people will cut through there, over the downed fence to avoid that tight turn.
Is there markers or something that is allowed to block that off, Or can you just restring the fence?
Just wondering as I don't know how much work you are allowed to perform.

You know and I know people will cut through there, over the downed fence to avoid that tight turn. Is there markers or something that is allowed to block that off. Of can you just restring the fence? Just wondering as I don't know how much work you are allowed to perform. Yea, I noticed that, and I'll see what we can do to restring the fence a bit to tighten it up, perhaps add a post in the center. That was a pretty long span.

I'm sure we can do something to block off that bypass and keep people from going through there.

Sorry you can't make it out man, but school is definitely the more important thing right now. The ride will be greatly appreciated though, not to fond of leaving cars parked in gas station parking lots all day. See you in the am.

Well folks, we're all back from our brushing on the trail. Had a great time, cleared some brush, played a bit, and picked up a straggler. ;D New gentleman by the name of Matt ran into us on our way to the jeep and tagged along with us for the rest of the day, and pitched in to help with some of the brushing. Hope to catch him at the meeting and out on the trails again. The trail is interesting, has a good variety of challenges along with some spots that may test your nerves (especially if your cruising in the jeep with no doors ). James made Christine's jeep teeter a bit, but nothing major, she wasn't screaming to get out. Full size rigs may not be happy with a few spots on this trail, gets a little tight, and general consensus was to run at least 31's and be locked in the rear. Pics will be up in the photo gallery in a few. ;D For the special pics and the story behind Scott, James, and the tree, you'll have to tune into the campfire.

Had a great time today. I also made it home without getting wet. ;D It was great meeting Matt. The very stock Cherokee made thing very interesting, I almost needed a OH SH!T beer just watching him. I hate people with camera's sometimes.

Almost forgot the important lesson of the day!
Take the cover off the lens of the camera before attempting to take photos. Otherwise it just goes "beep beep beep" then you have to turn it off and on and turn it to "p".

Lots of fun, and we got something accomplished... Oh, and just for the record I have no idea what she is talking about regarding Scott & the tree... Also, Amy, I'd recommend 33's and locker...31's made it today, but a little more height would not hurt at all. Here are the pics from the "teeter-totter incident...

Oh yeah, forgot that part, 31's with some skid plate protection (you will rub) or 33's would probably be better.

Look like you all had a nice Sunday drive. Did you happen to go all the way to the end of the trail? Hopefully it gets better. ;D Nice country up there. That Boulder field up there looks very tempting.

Did anybody check christine seat for skid marks, lol Actually, these photos show it after it settled down. For a few moments, it was teetering on two tires.... very interesting...and I'll admit...I was the nervous one.... I REALLY didn't feel like rolling today, especially in someone elses Jeep.

Yea, it really was not as bad as it looks though. Even when we were teetering, the front tire in the air only had about 3" before it got contact, so all in all, it wasn't too bad. But, it sure got my attention. The other option (you cannot see it because its behind the Jeep in the photos) is a 1.5 to 2' ledge to descend which would probably have resulted in Christine's bumper getting damaged. Now, the photos we didn't get is of the Cherokee (Matt) almost flipping because of his uncontrolled burst of throttle application. He fits in well with dreagon51 in the leadfoot club..lol. Then of course, Scott came down in Lucky and barely lifted a tire because we all learned what NOT to do the first two tries....guess it pays being the last one in line...lol

Glad to see everyone had a good time. How much actually got cleared? Quite a bit...(especially when I had the saw in my hand), but mainly we trimmed back the trees and limbs that interfered with the trail. There was/is only 1/4 mile section or so that was bad, and we stopped frequently to trim..... The rest of the trail has the occasional AZ pinstriping standard, bu the larger limbs (some were 1.5" in diameter like the one that ripped my flare off the other day) were removed. Also, just a side note...when we go up to remove the ZJ we need to take along some trash bags...Some folks are starting to think that the Chimney Rock area is a local dump....lots of aluminum cans, and trash, and even an entire ACE trashcan full of trash at the junction of 4431 and 4438. This all needs to be removed. I'd have done it today, but none of the rigs present had trash bags. Unfortunately, my rig was out of service (OOS) at home, where my trashbags were securely packed in my jeep.
