Just wondering if anyone has ever done the Crown King trail up near Phoenix??? Ive ran it once but was almost a year ago so im sure its changed at least a little bit. Maybe sometime in the next few months we could make a run up there when it cools down a little more. You pretty much have to camp out there though if we go since its up near Phoenix and its at least an all day trail, its similar to Charleaus Gap but I think it might be longer so we woudl be out there all day. Let me know if anyone interested and maybe we could make a run somtime in October or November.

Are you talking about the Backroad to Crown King? If so, it USED to be a fun trail. After the big fire that went thru there, the forest service anhiallated the trail - grading it so the fire trucks can get in and out of there. All the gnarly fun stuff that used to be there is now gone. Then the big rains came, and washed out the trail. That was fun for awhile, but the FS came thru, rebuilt and graded new parts of the trail. I had friends say that you can pretty much do it in 2wd, with the exception of one or two spots. It is still a pretty trial with gorgeous scenery. Plus the old town of Crown King is pretty cool too. There is a shop up there that makes really good fudge, lol.
