A good friend of mine, and possibly of yours... Darrell from Lloyd's transmission, has a son... They are personal friends of mine and a great asset to the 4x4 community in Tucson. They need our help...
Darrell and his entire family are GREAT people, and I'd like to help them. From what I gathered this afternoon, speaking with Darrell, they went out to the dunes before Christmas and Camden came down with what was thought to be the Flu...Yea, it sucks, but no big deal right? Anyway, about a week after they got home to Tucson, Camden started being lothargic, sleeping in, and showing signs of a fever again. They went to their physician, and he was again diagnosed with a viral infection... Within a weeks time, Camden had a seizure and was rushed to the ER. After extensive testing, poking and prodding, they found little wrong with the young man.... Until they did an MRI... Camden has legions on his brain...basically, when he had the Flu, his immune system kicked in like it was supposed to, but when the Flu subsided, his immune system did not stop... Instead, it started to attack the white blood cells in Camdens brain, and the mengai tissue. RIght now, Camden is in Phoenix going through ICU, Rehabilitation, and learning the basic skills of life...walking, talking, eating...so on a so forth...
Why does it seem like bad things always happen to good people. I've met Camden...he is a bright, cheerful young man. I want to see him that way again... If you cannot help, I understand, but at least help spread the word and lets at least raise awarness of this rare disease. I know that when Darrell was telling me Camden's story, I was getting sick to my stomach, and I almost threw up...I would not know how to handle it if it was one of my kids....
Darrell, his father, has left the Christmas tree up, and his son's presents on his bunk beds, awaiting his return home. He awakens every morning to silence, where it used to be the normal sounds of kids being around... I'm not sure I could deal with that. Darrell's wife has been at Camden's side, in Phoenix through the entire ordeal...
Whether we do it individually, or as a group, this boy and his family need our help...from donations to just spreading the word... we can help..
The following information was taken directly from www.familystowe.com where you can learn more about Camden, the disease, and what you can do to help.
Camden was born on the 6th February 2003. He was recently admitted to the Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona where he was diagnosed with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM).
He has since been transfered to Barrow Neurological Center in Phoenix, Arizona for ongoing recovery treatment.
We have set up this website to help support Darrell, Lisa, Brooke and Camden during this difficult time.
Please send the family a message to show your support.
We have also set up a fund in order to financially help the family. Account details for donations are as follows:
