Hey guys i started working on building my D44 for the rear of my XJ its going ok so far, we got the housing preped and cleaned and painted, we got the locker installed into the carrier and are just waiting on the install kits and all the new bearings and what not. We hope to get more done soon and re mount the shock mounts and do the brake conversion sometime soon. Its all a matter of time. It would be sweet to have the axle under in a couple weeks but its on the help of James and whether or not my schedule and his works out. And then after all this its to the front end gears and the long arm kit and the steering. Yeah Thanks alot james for all the help. Ill get pics posted as soon as we get some

well i went to james tonight as in monday night and worked for a lil over an hour. we got the holes in the shaft plate filled and grinded so it looks really clean and i can use the old shafts. on top of that i got the master install kit and overhaul kit and took it there, we got the ring on the carrier and the bolts in just not torqued to the specs. the locker has been installed and we got all the bearings off the shafts and the carrier and the pinion. the housing is bare and painted, and we finally got the cover painted the green we chose, it looks really good. so really all that is left is setting the gears, the pinion and then ring and the carrier, installing the shafts and doint the brake conversion, making sure there are no leaks, and getting it under the jeep and welding the shock tabs. and then bolting it in and driving it down the road. i dont have any pics right now i keep forgetting my camera, ill get there guys, ill get the camera and get pics of the build and how things are. hope to hear ur feedback

yeah so if nobody heard the build is postponed about a week or so cause i cut my finger working on my deck in my car trying to cut a ziptie, the blade of my new knife flipped on me and hit my left ring finger and put a cut about 1/2" deep and caused me to get 5 small stitches. wow, well ill get more info soon and hopefully ill remember to take my camera

Sorry buddy...I just worked 16 hours today and yesterday...tomorrow, I am up to my eyeballs in paperwork, and Sunday we have the car wash. I need a break on Saturday...we can start working on it next week, or if you want to come and pick up the plates to be drilled, either way, makes no difference to me. Gimme a call tomorrow

What vehicle did you pull your dana 44 from, and what is the wms? I am wanting to swap a dana (w/discs) under my nissan. Did the wagoneer use a dana 44 rear?

Did the wagoneer use a dana 44 rear? Most Wagoneers did use the D44. Only the '80-'91 would be usable for a swap for your truck, since they had a centered pumpkin (although not all Waggys had 44s - some had the AMC 20 axle). The '70s models that used the Quadratrac T-case had an offset differential.
