I'm trying to knock loose the inner knuckles on my Waggy D44 to get my pinion angle & caster setup right for my XJ. I can't get them to turn!! ARGH! Has anyone done this before, & know any trick to get this done? I'm pretty sure I cut all the weld out from between the axle tube & knuckle. I tried heating it up w/ a propane torch & beat on it w/ a 4# sledge - nothing happens. Maybe an oxy-acetylene torch?
Thnak for any help you guys can give.

Yup, done it. If they aren't turning, you are probably not all the way through the weld somewhere. It takes a lot more than I thought it would. Spray some WD-40 on the inside of the C where you can see the axle tube. Then heat up where you ground, the heat should pull the WD-40 into the crack and you will see a hairline if you are through the weld, follow this around and see if the line disappears anywhere, that's where you will need to grind more. Sometimes even when you are through all the way around, the uneveness of the grind will create inconsistencies that can hang up rotation. I too used a 4# sledge, not the most elegant way, but it'll work. Expect alot of pounding to get the rotation you need, and use a magnetic angle finder to get your caster right.
