You saying you don't pamper your trucks? Just kidding, of course. It sounds like it's coming back together well, and in a timely fashion.

Slick my j-truck has been out in the bad stuff, pulling people out of washes, pulling out one of my tow trucks that was buried up to the frame,{wheeler was with me], no i i have not pampered this j-truck, but since i have owned it i never did any damage to it except rear bumper, and that the way it is going to stay, if i want to go out thats what the chero is for. Bob has known this truck since i have known him, ask him about it. This is my pride and joy.

Ernie, it sounds like the truck has been through hell and back, and it's a credit to you that the truck is so pristine in appearance.

AS Bob said it was a good day, this was one of the easiest motor install especially for a 4 speed that i have ever done, I want to thank Bob and Ron for all their help, just a little tweaking and it should be ready to run. Hope you guys like the pics. thanks Bob.

Well got home tonight and tweaked the dizzy, found a header leaking a little, found two little water leaks, did a quick carb adjustment, took it out for a drive and was impressed on the way it ran, I think that i am going to have readjust the carb again but overall it runs real good. Slick i figured out tonight that with the engine pull, cleaning, and put back in that I have a total of 56 hours into this job and about 550.00 in new parts.

Update, I have about 250 miles on the motor since we took it out and put it back in and just found a water leak on the back drivers side where the intake bolts to the heads. so in the next couple of weeks the intake will come off and get a new gasket. No water in the oil though so i guess thats good

Doc, already retorqued the intake, like i told bob and ron when they came over to stuff it in that side of the intake didnt feel right when i put the gasket on it. Bob yea that was the smoking problem, got to work wed and smoke was coming out and ron was there and we found the problem, intake leaking running down the bellhousing onto the headers. = smoke. Insead of going to the other house next thursday nit might stay home and tear it down friday and get er done

Figured as much Zulu, about the retorquing, but brain tries to run simple stuff first. Gaskets aren't too hard to replace thankfully. ;D

Got to get this truck running for when i go to the other house, taking the international takes 1 hour and 45 minutes, the j-truck has made it down there in 67 minutes for 75 miles.

Well this morning about 9 am slick and ron [wheeler] showed up to fix the leak, after a while of b.s.ing we got started and the intake was off in no time. found the problem, on a amc motor there are four little cones that are punched into the intake gasket, well the one that was leaking was half gone and it didn't seal right, when we got ready to put the new intake gasket back on the same side drivers side rear slipped out of where it goes into the head, so we made sure that it stayed in the hole and put the intake back on and got everything done then cranked it up and we only had a fuel leak, just got back in the house from running it again and no leaks so maybe this time it is fixed. I want to give big thanks to slick and wheeler for the help, and the good company. It was a very pleasent day. Thanks guys.
