Do you have a fan shroud. If you got rid of the clutch fan get another one and put it on, What is supposed to be the factory temp thermostat, if it is different than what you are running then put the one that is supposed to be in there. Check your timing if it is off then it will run hotter. Have you had anybody check the actual temp of the coolant, could be a temp sending unit giving you false readings. I went thru this same thing, using a lower temp thermostat and timing was off and then to find out the clutch fan was going kaput, replaced these things and now my motor runs where it supposed to, hope this helps. Keep us informed on whats happening.

checked the factory manual, supposed to be a 195 thermostat. so i swapped that in yesterday along with flushing the coolant and putting a new exhaust system on. i'm taking it to blythe this weekend so we'll see how it does. so far things seem to be going good. i'm pretty sure i cured the problem considering when i pulled the thermostat to swap it i found that it had failed and was wide open. i'll let you guys know. and yes, i've got a fan shroud. still haven't gotten the fan clutch. fan is bolted straight to the crank pulley using a block spacer. we'll see.
