Hey kids. I need to know of some good, local, preferably not crowded shooting areas... not to mention LEGAL. I am having a good friend come down, and teach me and a few other people our CCW course. Part of this course is a qualifying shoot. We don't really want to go to a range (he is bringing some "toys"), and I'm sure they won't be allowed, haha. So, somewhere easy to get two (probably 2wd accessable). I'm all ears

Pretty much the whole area betwen Houghton & Wentworth (Vail Rd.)south of I-10 is good. I usually go a couple hundred yards off Wentworth to the west. There's a fence about 1/2 mile in thats the boundary for State trust land. If I'm not mistaken, you can target shoot in there as long as you have permit?

Land trust property. It is great to see a shooting section. I have done a lot of reloading in the past. Competitive shooting also. We should set up some turkey shoots. ;D This should probably be a sticky link, if you don't have one already. www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/rec_offroad_permit.htmwww.land.state.az.us/support/faqs.htmActivities not allowed include, but are not limited to, target shooting, sighting-in of weapons, paint ball games, fireworks, extended camping, visiting archaeological sites (historic and prehistoric), metal detecting and removal of natural products (rocks, cactus wood, soil, sand, plants, etc.). There is a clause for hunting.
