Trail Name: Patagonia Mountains Loop Trail Location: Patagonia AZ Date: October 14th Meeting Location: Triple T Truck Stop (Map) Meeting Time: 7am Dearture Time: 7:30am Communication: CB Channel 4, Cell Phone: 520-403-3361 Trail Rating: 1.5 Necessary Items: *Water *Food for lunch *Anything else you think you may need. A Little More Info: This is a very easy trail. The rating is probably more like a 1 but better safe than sorry.
Trail Info: This scenic mountain drive reaches five forgotten backcountry towns: Harshaw, Mowry, Washington Camp, Duquesne and Lochiel. Harshaw and Duquesne are legitimate ghost towns with interesting buildings still standing. Well-maintained dirt road suitable for high-slung passenger cars in dry weather. Side trip to Duquesne is a bit rougher but suitable for stock SUVs. Four-wheel drive may be needed when wet. Possible high water crossings during heavy rains.
I think this will be a fun run. We can stop and eat lunch at one of the towns and maybe do a little exploring at the other ones. I checked out the topo map of the area and there are alot of mines in the area with tunnels so we could check some of those out. I think it will be a nice drive in the country .
Its about 60 miles to Patagonia so we will be leaving at around 7:30am. I figure we will get there at around 9 - 9:30. The trail should probably take us 5 to 6 hours especially if we stop to explore. That will put us back in Tucson at around 6 - 6:30. This will be a full day run so make sure to bring plenty of water and food. Attendees: K5 slick1100 azdesertrhino +1 zulu (maybe) greedy1
UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 9TH

That is a nice area to see. The roads are not bad (as best as I can remember). I have done that run in a 71 Chevy Impala many times. Just remember to be careful with all of the mine shafts, they are pretty deep. I hope everyone has fun!

Kyle you won't be able to get to close to duquense, it has been fenced off since it was bought, the new owners want to fix the place up, people were going there and tearing it up.

Just some info, sonoita has a gas station there and the gas is about 15 cents more per gallon. When you come into sonoita you will see the gas station, they make pretty good sandwiches there also and also have a rest room. From the ttt it is about 37 miles to sonoita. just thought this might help people plan their trip. When you guys are on the trail be careful and if you have pistol maybe you ought to bring it. there is a lot of illegals and drug runners down in that neck of the woods.

99frontierex - Yea, you might want to sit this one out. But maybe a trail run wedding might be cool. Now just convince the bride of that! LOL ;D

The Patagonia run has been rescheduled for October 14th due to the fact that I would like TOR to make a good showing at the BLM project on the 30th. If you can't make the new date please let me know what weekend date would be good for you.
Thanks Kyle

Hey guys,
I hate to do this but I'm gonna have to cancel this run. I have an interview for an internship on Saturday and another one on Sunday. I can't afford to miss them. I may reschedule this run if I have time. Check back for updates. Sorry guys.
